FINALLY Hit the Write In

I’ve been working through revising my novel, using Holly Lisle’s ‘How to Revise Your Novel‘ class.  The first 16 or so Lessons are all about finding what’s wrong.

Lesson 17, you take your notes, and you start writing in changes on your paper copy.

It makes my brain hurt if I do it for too long – 25 pages or so, and I’m fried.  But here’s my set up:

I have a scene breakdown for making changes, and I have a check list of big things I have to follow in each and every scene:

Ssssh, spoilers!  *wink*

And then there’s Mount Novel, double spaced, single sided monolith made up of countless hours of my efforts:

And, a cute and SO USEFUL thing that Holly Lisle has you do in her class is make scene cards:

It’s a lot of work.

It’s a LOT of work.

I expect it to easily take a month to go through this stage alone.

Ideally, I’ll come out with a decent novel at the end of the class’s structure.  There’s 22 Lessons, and Write In is Lesson 17.

So… if you don’t hear from me, it’s because I’m nursing my headache while I work on this!
