What are YOU looking for in an Author Subscription?

Okay, I have a question for you, the reader. And I have my email fixed now so I’ll be sure to get your answer promptly and not in a month when I get suspicious and check!

A group of authors are setting up an author service similar to Patreon called Ream. It’ll go live in May, and they’re creating it because Patreon doesn’t allow some genres, like erotica, on their platform.

I don’t write erotica. I write Clean and Sweet. But, I want to support this project to help get it off the ground.

That said, I’m not sure what I would include as subscription options.

So, here’s the question for you: What would YOU want out of an author subscription – on a weekly or monthly basis?

I’ve been looking at things like releasing a book I’ve drafted but not yet released a scene or two a week.

Or, something I liked that a YouTuber did was she sent you Christmas cards and birthday cards. I could create birthday cards from the character art I have and you could pick the guy (or gal) you get.

I could also release these scenes in audiobook format. They’re not the final scene in the final book, but it would be more accessible to readers.

This is just me brainstorming though, assuming that anyone signed up.

What would make you excited to open your email on days the subscription released?

Thanks for reading this far, and I hope to hear your thoughts!

  1. I know one online webcomic does pins. Could also do bookmarks or stickers, like a unique one per month.

    1. I have artwork for doing bookmarks, so yeah. That could work! 😀 Pins would be a lot harder and more expensive though. I’m leaning towards online benefits for most of it.
