Mighty Hunter Koda

Koda is the pale boy, Birdie is the reddish girl in my photo.

A few nights ago, I let Koda in and was surprised when he wasn’t hooked to his lead.

So I put on shoes and a coat and followed the lead out past the brush pile in our yard towards the chicken coop and found THE biggest, fattest, fluffiest possum I’ve ever seen in my life directly in front of the coop door.

It was the size of a small dog, no joke.

It was also royally annoyed, glaring at me and hissing while playing dead. I laughed at it and then scolded it for going after my coop.

The best I can guess is that Koda valiantly defended the chicken coop from it. Good boy!

Possum was uninjured, and was gone the next morning. I didn’t let Koda out that door again during the night to give it time to move on.

Dog is fine and is in a fine mettle, very proud of himself.

Chickens are all fine, fluffy, spoiled, freeloaders.

*facepalm*
