Fort Snelling: Grandpa and Grandma Hanson

We went up to Minneapolis this last week to inter my Grandpa and Grandma Hanson.  Because Grandpa was military, he was allowed a plot at Fort Snelling.

It was immediate family only and really short – only 15 minutes before they had to move to the next funeral.

The woman who got us all set up was kind though, and the Pastor gave a good service – abridged though it was.

They did a six gun salute and played Taps, and they thanked our family for his service.

Very efficient, very fast.

Grandma was buried in a cookie jar that her sister made for her, and Grandpa had a plain box:

So that part of my life has closed.

Grandma died in 2012, and Grandpa wanted to follow her.  Instead he passed on Valentine’s Day, 2019.

We like to joke that he had a date with Grandma planned and just couldn’t wait.

I hope they’re playing cards with all of their friends like they loved to do, and I hope they’re together.

Finally together again.
