One of the things the job I work does is go through old records to computerize data that was legally required to be digitalized in 2014 or so.
The worst box we got stank like a bad farmyard and was full of silverfish. Mostly dead.
The most recent boxes had elaborate mildew, some of it black and branching like trees. Probably toxic. Once those records are done, we’ll be burning them instead of recycling them because mildew. Often the records we get are in rough shape.
So we got this new set of records, and there were NEITHER SILVERFISH NOR MILDEW, we were THRILLED.
It’s like it’s my birthday! *smile*
Our oldest record is from 1961. Did I mention this information was supposed to have been digitized around a decade ago?
Yeah.
