More practice! I forgot to drop a post it to cover her chest in the photo though. The original sketch: And then the painted version: So, ignore the itty bitty amount of underboob there. The lighting on this one was hard, and the eye really fought me.

Gouache Practice
Still at it! The sketch: And then, the painting with flash on the camera: The painting without flash: Skin tones aren't perfect, but I'm happy with this one.
Gouache Practice
I am SO bad at this, but I keep trying. I enjoy learning to do things that are hard for me, so this definitely qualifies. And gouache has an 'ugly' stage like I've never seen that you have to just push through and trust it will fall together. So, here's the original sketch. Reference is … Continue reading Gouache Practice
More Sketching Practice
This is an art dump. I've been practicing drawing more realistically, from reference, and it's going pretty well. This one I wasn't very happy with. So I redrew it. And I'm trying to draw guys too. My favorite from this batch. And the last one is just the start of a sketch, not even close … Continue reading More Sketching Practice
A Sketch that Turned Out Well
I did some sketching over Christmas week, and I had one that turned out surprisingly well. Something about this one turned much better than my usual efforts. Something about the eyes maybe? Anyway, I'm proud of my efforts on this one, and I'll be painting it in gouache at some point along the way. *smile*

Hers... say watercolor on one side and tempra on the other so I don't know what, exactly, to think. I pulled the whites because lead - also because … Continue reading Watercolors?
She’s a Princess, Can’t You See the Crown?
My marker projects I showed Monday came out... okay. I suspect I could touch them up with colored pencil, and that would help. I was pleased with them at the time, but now... not so much. So, thinking of colored pencil, I remembered that one of my favorite artists, Lioba Bruckner, does watercolor with colored … Continue reading She’s a Princess, Can’t You See the Crown?
Practicing With Markers – Win?
I have new markers, so OF COURSE I had to try them out. I picked a watercolor sketch book out because it's less likely to bleed through the paper there and I was hoping it would help me blend. Here's the first: In case you're wondering, this is fanart of Feyre from A Court of … Continue reading Practicing With Markers – Win?
