Happy Birthday Tundra!

Tundra was born in the fall of 2010, so we got to pick a birthday for him.  We chose 10/10/2010 because we thought it was neat, and it’s been a tradition to always bring him to the Kickapoo Valley Reserve for a hike for his birthday.

It was cold and drizzly Sunday, but off we went.  There are public, non-hunting trails that are shorter, and we like the one that goes by a covered bridge and around the pond along with some good views of the Kickapoo.

I didn’t remember to bring my camera, sadly.

It was a fun hike with enough variation to keep my breathing hard – which I can do now!  Thank you to the new steroid inhaler I have because I can actually exert myself without gasping and struggling for air.  So we went pretty briskly.

There was a lot of watery spots, though not as bad as last time.  But we did see high water marks, grasses caught in trees, well over ten feet up.  So, glad we missed that, and we’ll keep an eye on the weather when we go again.

But it was fun and Tundra wore himself out sniffing everything.  We ran into one person on the paths, and she loved on Tundra which he hammed it up for.  It was really cute.

So, Happy Birthday Tundra!

Do you celebrate your pet’s birthday?  What types of things do you do?  We give him a treat for Christmas, but a hike for his birthday.  Inquiring minds want to know!
