Okay, first of all ‘Interesting Things Just For You’ is a long enough preface that I suspect the actually interesting part of the title is hidden if you get updates by email. So I’m shortening that.
That said, if you haven’t already run across Sarra Cannon, I’m totally throwing her onto your radar.
If you’re a reader and love YA Urban Fantasy, she has a Beautiful Demons series which I’ve loved. I read the first book in… 2011? I think? (Link to her Amazon page, not an affiliate.) I will admit that I am behind on it though – my TBR list in my Kindle is insane, and there are SO MANY wonderful authors out there that I can’t keep up!
The first three books are here, and it looks like the box set is reduced in price. (I can’t tell; I’ve already purchased it, and it’s being wonky about giving me a price.) Book description from Amazon for Book I:
Harper Madison isn’t like other girls. She has extraordinary powers, but her inability to control them has gotten her kicked from so many foster homes she’s lost count. Shadowford Home for Girls is her last chance, and she hopes Peachville High will be the fresh start she needs.
But when evidence ties her to the gruesome murder of a Demons cheerleader, Harper discovers this small town has a big secret.
So, maybe you don’t read her genre. If you’re an author, she’s a fabulous resource on writing and planning with both videos on her YouTube channel, Heart Breathings, and posts on her blog. She was one of the authors who put herself out there when self publishing became a thing, and I think she’s really done well by it.
She’s mellow and helpful, and I really feel that she’s a good starting point for new authors. She’s so supportive, and she provides some great resources. Not that I’m saying you should email all your questions! Take a look instead at what blogs she has (they’re sorted low down on the right side of the webpage), what YouTube videos she has, and the resources she offers.
But what if you don’t read Urban Fantasy AND aren’t an author?
Do you like journaling and bullet journals? She has elaborate and wonderful YouTube videos and posts on her blog on this subject! I love watching her work on them, and while it’s primarily writing focused, I think folks would enjoy these videos too. She does do some reviews and suggestions for what journals people might like.
And she has a crazy amazing washi tape stash!
She did a thing last year to try and use notebooks she already has rather than just hoarding them. *coughlikemecough* It seems like something I should do too!
So, take a look! I think she’s awesome, and I’m hoping you will too.
